This system was developed for Mectronic, Inc a global manufacturer of electronic connectors and sockets
headquartered in San Jose, California.
We developed a scalable E-business solution with efficient integration with their internal Lotus Notes,
Pervasive and other applications. The solution was hosted on a dedicated server on the internet to provide
maximum performance to users. We created a highly efficient data and file transfer mechanism between their
LAN and the internet server.
The e-business solution included advanced but easy-to-use search features including:
Multi-level parametric search on product families and applications that builds part numbers at each step
based on parameters selected from dropdown boxes
Part no., keyword and description search
Factory and distributor stock check, refreshed every 30 minutes
Competitor cross-reference search to display equivalent parts based on competitor part numbers
All search functions produce results in the same format, from where users can view catalogs, engineering drawings,
descriptions, inventory etc. for individual part numbers, and can add part numbers to their shopping cart.
Authorized distributors can login to view many additional details about each part number including multi-level
pricing and can send secure purchase orders. We created a distributor account management feature, with which their
staff can view, activate and edit distributor accounts. We also built an order tracking system with realtime
integration with internal systems to provide accurate status on orders.
The entire e-business site is based on a well designed integration solution to transfer data and PDF files from
their intranet to the web server. Our solution ensures that the data transfer processes are extremely robust and
efficient. Our solution also makes it possible to transfer updated catalogs and engineering drawing files in PDF
format from the intranet to the web server automatically, thereby saving valuable staff resources and keeping the
site current at all times.
